Nancy O'Dell started her career in broadcasting as a reporter at WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. In the following years, she worked as a the morning news anchor as well as a crime reporter at WCBD-TV. Her reporting of the ineffective responses of police officers in response to DUI incidents in Charleston caused an investigation conducted by the State Law Enforcement Division, which led to a change in directive from state authorities regarding DUI cases.
